I have planted many
And, for a while,
Watched them grow,
Inch by inch,
Like children,
Tended by a mixture
Of nurture and nature,
Rain and shine;
Each has thrived
And may still,
For all I know,
In those far-flung places
Where I left them
Rooted.
For, unlike them
I have moved often
And the trees I planted,
Tended and loved,
Stand tall
No doubt
Provide shade now,
For others.
