Trial By Fire Poem by Beatrice Preti

Trial By Fire

Rating: 5.0

like jericho the walls are tumbling
down
down
down
the people cheer and the flames
grow higher
brighter
the pronouncement
(denouncement)
came like an axe crashing down on my head
BANG!
i'm dead
the metaphorical noose tied tight
the doors locked until daylight
a witch they called me, malicious and vile
for being a healer, for helping
for cheating death of its prey
forgive me for sinning
for letting them live another day
in dawn's early light i stand, condemned
they point, jeer, laugh. how easily they forget
who it was they turned to in their hour of need.
The torch is lit.
If she lives, it is by the will of God.
(In this world, or the next) .
ashes to ashes
REPENT YOUR SINS!

'like jericho the walls are tumbling down' with an earthquake thumping of feet and blowing of horns, time changes everything, cities and civilizations like people in time fall, healers healing wounds and souls in the passage of night, glitter twinkle shine like stars in the universe, healers heal with their own light which darkness cannot extinguish or veil, thunder lightening ceases, storms rain stops, after the storm is the regeneration of sunshine light nice lones Beatrice 10+++
