Tribal Traditions Poem by Marilyn Lott

Tribal Traditions

How beautiful the costumes
How compelling is the sound
Carefully sending messages
In that special way that’s found

Thoughts in chosen voices
Magically fill the air
One is left to wonder
What these voices have to share

Dancing so methodically
Bodies move to the beat
Drums now fill that void
As we watch their moving feet

So if you get a chance, folks
Be sure to watch the ancient ways
For there’s nothing that compares
With the Cherokee Feast of Days
