Trivia Louise Porter Poem by Juan Olivarez

Trivia Louise Porter

A tired old black woman, would stop by each day,
In her greasy uniform.
To rest her feet at the end of the day,
The terminal where I worked was always warm.

She'd get a coffee from the vending machine,
And say hi baby, how was your day?
My feet hurt so much it's almost obscene,
The good tippers didn't show today.

Then she'd light one up, and tried to unwind,
Before heading for home in the dark.
I still see her in the back of my mind,
As she made her way through Archer Park.

Next evening she'd be back in her same old seat,
With a great big smile across her face.
Just resting her tired feet a bit,
Trying to unwind from her hectic pace..

No sweeter soul on God's green Earth,
In my life have I ever found.
She was always happy filled with mirth,
Her thankless job, never got her down.

I lost track of Trivia, a long time ago,
But she never did depart.
I see her smile in the clouds the wind blows,
And her laugh is in my heart.
