Troubled By The Facts Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Troubled By The Facts

Discouraged.
Disillusioned.
And...
Troubled by the facts.
When discovering them revealed,
To be just that.

Discouraged.
Disillusioned.
And leaving many disbelieving,
Their minds have been used.
Taken for granted and abused.
Most of their conscious lives.
By attractive distractions.
While a pro-active smothering,
Of truth to deny it and defy...
Under creative alibis.
Excuses made.
And a variety of picked to choose,
Treated and seductive delicious lies.

Sobering.
To awakened troubled by the facts.
Are those curious who grow,
Seeking to know much more...
Than they have been taught.
When confronted and confused by reality.
Listening to the ones attempting,
This to bring truth to their attention.
Only to begin and start arguments.
Between themselves,
School teachers and college scholars.
In defiant and rebellious attitudes.
Pointless to display and exchange.

And...
Destructive.
To a way of life.
Rooted in false beliefs.

Discouraged.
Disillusioned.
And...
Left troubled by the facts.
Unable to accept them to be...
Just that.
Facts!
Leaving many disbelieving,
Lies to them told.
Even when holding college degrees.
To have earned them received.

"Where do we go from here? "
Are comments to hear them overheard.
"Destroy established institutions? "
But how would this benefit?
To what purpose would this serve?

Then others with ambitious wishes.
And proud to have earned,
What they have learned to receive.
Although...
Maybe still troubled by the facts,
Say to themselves and done to believe.
"No!
Let's not destroy them.
Let us find and discover a way,
To change what has been...
Accepted to establish,
And await for those too old and have aged.
To die.
With a doing to get away from us.
Perhaps...
Nagging them to death,
Will speed up the process! "

The youth of today,
May know what it takes...
To open slow and delaying gates,
That would make the future even brighter.
By any means made less noticeable.
Although...
Necessary to make it known.
