True Love? Poem by An Angel Without Wings

True Love?

Rating: 5.0

Your deep, brown eyes pull me under
I want you to lie to me, tell me it’s me you love
When you’re around, my heart beats like thunder
Tell me that I’m on your mind; I’m all you think of
But don’t tell me that I’m one copious blunder

I love you can’t you see?
Let us forget our past and start anew
Please don’t tell me your heart disagrees
You’re on my heart just like a tattoo
Please grant me this one guarantee

I gave you everything I could
I’m sorry I couldn’t change
I didn’t know how, I thought you understood
Now cold, hard words are all we exchange
Will it be this way for good?

My heart is tattered, broken, rent
How could you love me and be so cruel?
Each day I see you is raw torment
You were my one true love throughout high school
Will you at least listen to my heart’s lament?

You said we’d never be apart
I kissed your neck while you held me close
Well forget you! You broke my once strong heart!
Our days of happiness are nothing more than ghosts
My fragmented heart is your personal work of art

Goodbye love, I cannot stand the pain
Please stay away, I can’t see your brown eyes
Although, my heart will always be your domain
I’m tired of all our false goodbyes
So here I leave our love now slain
