Please do not for a moment give just weight
To thoughts of my thirst to wantonly stray,
The pain in this Heart is such to relate
The hurt that I feel by your foul dismay.
In no other eyes would my Solace find
Nor your warming smile that is all life's balm,
A Loving Soul that is Motherly kind,
And concern of others with artless Charm.
To all Tempters I would soon gladly scorn
All flatterers to the four Winds there sent,
There was never a Girl of Beauty born
Or a Paragon of good Humour dreamt.
For these praiseful lines I attest are true,
With abiding faith, I am True to you.
