Truth Poem by Liane Carlo Suelan

Truth

Wherever I look, whichever way I stare,
I only find horrors lying here and there.

I see countless women abused by vile men;
Homosexuals scowled at, treated just like then.

I see the bite of poverty and hunger;
How people would rather die than live longer.

I see blameless men's corpses lining the streets -
Libertarians framed; shot point-blank on their seats.

I see native Filipinos driven out
Of their domain, unable to fight - just shout.

I see men of power blinded by great wealth,
Living in nepotism, cunning and stealth.

I see them - crowds pious beneath the daylight -
Saints you may think them, but beasts at dark of night.

These eyes have seen much more horrors than you think,
But fearing their wrath and hatred, all I ever do is blink.
