Truth Behind His Blue Eyes Poem by Terry Hicks

You all know the broken hearted fool
That one guy who always looks cool
Though he's filled with pain
On the outside he appears sane
He laughs and smiles a lot
But it's just part of his plot
He doesn't want you to know
He does his best to not let it show
Emotions he says just get in the way
This how he lives day to day
But his eyes they can not lie
From his eyes you see inside
You see a bottle overflowing
But his emotions almost never showing
He blinks and it fades away
Replaced with dull shades of gray
Now he smiles at you
And you think it looks so true
But you look away
To scared to say
You never ask about what you saw
And he never tells how far he had to fall
But he just continues to smile and play
And you let it go on like every other day
