Truth Beyond My Painful Lies Poem by Evette Morales

Truth Beyond My Painful Lies

While you're stealing my soul with ragged teeth
I remember the pain I hide underneath
The sorrow, the sacrifice
The love, the joy

I can't help but think, is it worth it?
The lingering pain that nears me insane
The whispers of you deep in my name
I feel so astounded but only in vain

I fell so confused, yet fully alive
This feeling, with no words, I have yet to describe
I hate you, and you hate me
Yet we are part of the same being

Why do you taunt me?
Am I not what you wanted?
Do you mislead me with lies in your true syphony?
Or are you a fake, with sadistic preference

To stealing one's true happiness.
I am left alone, with nothing gained; but much loss
Hey, do me a favor, nail me to a cross
Hey, wait, doesn't this remind you of that one time?

But isn't it funny how things work
You live your whole life with nothing you deserve
We all have a purpose, I have yet to find mine
Until then, I'll stare, into the black abyss of time.
