Grace, generosity, sympathy everything asunder
as survivors keeps emerging from the wreckage
that the earthquakes have imposed on Turkey and Syria.
No words, no jury, no justice can ever replace or retrieve
the serenity, the unity and the calmness that has escaped
from the lives of those families now so distraught and in daze.
Where was the morning-sun hiding its brightness
that as it waited for dawn so many buildings just collapsed
and descended people in eternal darkness?
Even death lost its count and its fairness
as the young and the old together perished without mercy
and as one looks at those debris, tears and pain surmounts.
Mercy has never been so forgetful or callous
Nature has never been so tragic and terrible
humanity itself has never failed its test of hope.
But now as days spin into weeks and drags anticipation,
as rescuers find little children, older people, families still weep
and ask themselves - will their tears and memories ever cease?
