Turned Out Like You Poem by Randy McClave

Turned Out Like You

Is that your child way over there
With the tattoos everywhere,
Smoking now yet another cigarette
And has no worries and not one regret.
Wasn't that your child the other night that was caught
For buying drugs and also for using pot,
I heard that she drinks until she gets drunk
She seemingly always acts like a privileged punk.
I heard her swear and I heard her curse
And also always saying much, much worse,
And someone told me that she'll lie and cheat
With everyone that she does meet.
I know that she has had many one night stands and affairs
And for other people she has no feelings or cares,
I know that seeking pity is her truest game
And she doesn't care living by shame.
I see that she always blames her problems on others
Whether it be her ex's or her brother's,
And I know that your child doesn't have a job
I guess it's easier for her to beg and sell and rob.
I know that she breaks promises all of the time
And if a promise is broken to her, she'll scream a crime,
Sad, that I always see her asking for pity
In our small little city.
Now look at your child as she will always judge
Because someone caught her now she'll also hold a grudge,
So, please now tell me this time and tell me true
Are you glad that your child turned out just like you.
