Twelve Fifty Thoughts Poem by chris schwartz

Twelve Fifty Thoughts

Rating: 5.0

I love you!
But don't expect me
To do lonely
Don't expect me
To be Brave.
I have conquered both
And no longer wish
To re-visit
That chapter
In my life.
The havoc created
From the past
Has taught me
To love in minutes,
Not years.
To want you, always,
For as long as we have.
I finally found you!
I was so happy.
But our journey is now clouded
With work, and loneliness,
And in sickness.
It's not your fault.
You are where you are
And I am not helping.
I know.
But there are some things
Worth taking time to pause
The rare moments
That exist, right now,
are not in your world
Forever, my love.
And one of them
Is me.
So just in case,
I am not here
To hold you
When you do come home
Please know
That my final embrace
Would have been in your arms.
We've had each other
Such a short while,
But have spent a lifetime searching
Just to get to us.
When you are gone,
Trying just to make ends meet,
I am sitting here, alone,
Thinking of how we
Should have been enjoying
Our short time together.
