Twice Bitten Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Twice Bitten

Rating: 2.0

Idle words and promises,
a list of little white lies,
broken dates with no
excuses - just false alibis!
A second romance over,
he began to see the light
recalling many a wasted day
and many a loveless night.

Turning around to walk away
and ponder all alone, a wish
he made, that soon he'd find
a third love of his own. But
desire faded with the dawn
'twice bitten and thrice shy'
Shattered was his dream of love
and the years went scurrying by.
