Two Angels Walking Poem by Randy McClave

Two Angels Walking

Two Angels were walking down the road
And they got tired from their daily strenuous load,
So, they decided to find a place to rest
So, in the morning for the Lord they could continue their quest.
Up ahead they noticed a very fine home
So, for the night they decided to stop their roam,
They knocked on the door asking for a place to sleep
And that they had nothing for their keep.
The wealthy man then led the Angels to his cold basement
While passing his many empty bedrooms in a sprint,
He told the two Angels that they could sleep on the floor there
Though it was both cold and bare.
The Angels then both thanked him for his generosity
And they also thanked him for showing them pity,
Then the older Angel noticed a hole in the wall
And he repaired it, so no one would ever notice it at all.

Two Angels were walking down the pathway
And they kept walking on that path most of the day,
Then they ended up walking into a new town
Then they decided it was time to rest, relax and lay down.
Up a head they noticed a very small house
And it was owned by a poor man and his loving spouse,
The Angels asked the couple if they could stay there for the night
The couple said yes with joy and delight.
Then the couple gave the Angels the food that they were going to eat
Which was vegetables, fruit and meat,
Then the couple gave the angels their very own beds
So, both the Angels could rest their tired and weary heads.
In the morning the Angels woke up to a sadness
The couple had lost their smiles and their gladness,
The woman told the Angels that in the night their cow had died
It's milk gave them their only income so she cried.

Two Angels were walking together down the trail
Knowing without a clear vision no deed can ever avail,
And as they walked the younger Angel was bothered
About the deeds that the older angel had fathered.
The younger Angel asked the older Angel why did he fixed the wall of the rich man
While helping the poor family should had been his plan,
Then the older Angel said with a gleam
Something's, sometimes aren't as what they truly seem.
The older Angel then smiled as he then spoke
These words and thoughts to the younger Angel he then did invoke,
Behind the wall that I repaired was where the rich man kept his gold and silver
Now he can't see it or find it, pleasure to him no more will it deliver.
And then for the poor man and his wife
I wanted to give them love and less heartbreak and strife,
Last night death had come looking for the poor man's wife with his plough
So, instead said the Angel I gave to death the poor couples cow.
