Two Dogs For Jesus Poem by Caleb Duane

Two Dogs For Jesus

It's really sad that Jesus Christ, didn't have a dog…
Because if he did, it'd be obvious, heavens where they belong
He'd have a friend, that'd never betray him, for a set of spoons,
He'd have a companion next to him, who loved him through and through,
He'd have a buddy who followed him, and watched him heal the weak.
But most importantly, he'd have a companion, who'd watch him when he sleeps.

The loyalty of his dog, would never ever be questioned,
He'd love him because he's human, and not a divine investor,
He would never question his judgment, and know he's never wrong,
Simply because a dogs a dog, and they know where they belong.

There love is never fake, they're greed is never real.
They've got life figured out, and learn to love it still.
They're joyful when we're happy, and comforting when we're sad,
They're there for us, forever and always,
They're the love we've never had…

I'm glad my Dogs are with him now, because they will be happy,
I just hope and pray to God, that they stop scratching,
I tried to train them well for you, so please if you will…
Accept them into your home oh God, and love them as they will.
And if you decided to leave them out, and lock them from the gate,
leave me out there with them Lord, for I must not forsake.

They've been there for me forever, and I shall do the same…
It's the least I owe to the likes of them…
My dogs will feel no pain…

To Stormy who rained upon me with love when I was feeling sad…
and to Sunshine who was always there, to make me feel glad.
