Two Elephants Fall Off A Cliff Poem by Graham Leese

Two Elephants Fall Off A Cliff

Humour comes at the most
inappropriate times, like
nuns trying out love beads.
Giggles, whether sly and
quiet
or heartily loud,
are the best therapy-
if you’re not counting
chocolate, roast dinners
and crack that is.
For some, laughter is the best
form of social humiliation
and whilst we Brits get the
sardonic self deprecation a little
too well, even we can laugh
at
those
zany
yanks.
A seal
walks into a club
turns into
it’s all right,
it’s going to be OK,
it’s only visible under black-light, promise.
Walking past a recently smashed shop window
and exclaiming “smashing! ” keeps us alive
for another day, for cracking people up
is actually jokes. Boom Boom.
