Two Rings Poem by Jeannette Heywood

Two Rings

Two rings entwine, your heart and mine.
Symbols of our love divine.

Our love excels, in our hearts it dwells.
People gather at request of bells.

You hold my hand and my heart sings.
Our Best man brings our wedding rings.

Upon my finger you place this token.
Promises spoken never to be broken.

Forever now it stands, third fingers on our left hands
encircled with lovers' bands.

No matter what comes with time.
Two rings will entwine your heart and mine.

So simple in its form, this poem, Yet full of complex thoughts, Which weave and then reiterate Like filigree well wrought, Or interwoven ribbons On a maypole: there's a thought.
