Two Small Girls Waving At Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Two Small Girls Waving At

Two small girls from the fields
Adjacent to the dry river
Of the summertime
Below the bridge
Waving at
The crossing train,
One is half-baked
While the other clumsily dressed,
Two somewhat dark-complexioned girls
From the sun-burnt hamlets
Of the poor country,
The same midnight children,
The partition people
And their stories of food and hunger
I got reminded of
On seeing them,
The midnight children
Celebrating the jubilees of freedom.
