Tying Laces Poem by Raymond Farrell

Tying Laces

Mrs. Dixon needed help
Or so she claimed
At the beginning of Kindergarten
Most of the children
Could not tie their laces
Getting them all laced up
For recess was a chore
So I was commandeered
To help others tie their laces
Day after day
Twice a day
I tied and tied and tied
Those cursed laces
I got sick and tired
Of tying laces
So just before recess one day
I tied all their laces together
The one in front
To the one behind
And he to the one ahead
There they all stood in line
Waiting for the recess bell
To go off
The bell went off
And they all went down
Like a row of dominoes
Mrs. Dixon was not pleased
She gave me the strap
But she never asked me
To tie anybody's laces again.
