I hear the bell toll nine times this sunday evening
Making me lonely for your warm embrace
rushing after work on highways dark and speeding
Imagining the soft glow of streetlights on your face
Like I did so many times long ago
When we were clinging to each other
Like wayward sheep with nowhere else to go
Much like lost children reunited with their mother
But time has been unkind to us two
and this night I seem to recall you soft lips
Without you to run to I'm lost and blue
wishing my lonliness your love could eclipse
The first time I held you I felt your heart beat
In doleful lonliness I long for your love so sweet
