Unanticipated Poem by William Aiken, Sr.

Unanticipated

Rating: 5.0

Since you departed this life suddenly, you come to my remembrance night and day.

Only now am I able to comprehend to some degree the strength of our friendship -
my adoration.

Yes, reflection helps to inform about the real measure of friendship.

But, full understanding is beyond elusive.

I sought to bring you comfort, and I reached for hope during the last moments of
your vibrant life.

In those moments, I experienced both solaces, and immeasurable pain.

Life did not prepare me for those moments.

Even prayer seemed to elude me.

Oh, how I miss you Ms. Mary.
