I'm filled with flaws, they say,
But I won't conform to the ways of religion,
For my soul dances in the sunlight,
And my heart sings with the sunrise.
They call me strange, my queerness,
A sunny Sunnydale sum of a rae of sunburst,
But I won't hide away,
In fear of punishment or judgmental words.
In my queerness, I sunbathe,
With a sunburn on my skin,
But I'm way more stubborn,
Than I long to be, I won't conform.
Do you feel stupified,
By my choices and my ways,
But I won't change for anyone,
Not even for the spirit of conviction alone.
You might say I'm entitled,
To enjoy myself, taste the rainbow,
For I don't need to walk in the lines,
Or stay in the lane that society has drawn.
I chase after something true,
Something real, my heart's desire,
I am a man who loves men,
Something sinful, a fantasy, but who are you to judge?
I am a saint and a sinner,
But so is the world we live in,
I can't afford to care,
For others' opinions and restrictions.
Living is a problematic force,
But I embrace it with all my being,
For I am also living,
In my truth, in my own way.
The world may think I'm an enigma,
An archenemy, an entity,
But I am just a whirlwind of threats,
Because I refuse to conform to their norms.
I am not my hair, my appearance,
You can't condition me with chemicals,
Burn me in place and expect me,
To remain faithful to your ideals.
I may not be straight, nor bi,
But I am not forbidden,
My love is my own,
And I won't be tamed or silenced.
So let society hallucinate,
And make-believe what it may,
For I am not their archenemy,
I am simply a rock that refuses to break.
