Unchained Poem by Stephanie Blake

Unchained

These tears feel like glass
Sharp and cutting through my skin
Memories- distant clashing
Unsure of where to begin.
You can’t escape your past
Nor delay what’s to come
So I’m ready for this fight
Like a cocked and loaded gun
This pain feels like primal energy
About to explode from beneath my chest
I must unchain its fury
To gain a peaceful rest
My hands are clenched to fists
Ready for the next blow
And I will tunnel through the darkness
Searching for my soul
