Uncharted Waters Poem by Phil Major

Uncharted Waters

Ever since you left us
Life hasn’t been the same
I catch myself
Sometimes just wandering around
Ever day on my lips is your name

A silent scream
You’re every day in my dreams

I feel a piece is missing
A shadow on my heart
I know that they say
You must be in Heaven
And we all have to make a new start

But I don’t know how
Wish I could bring you back now

I’d tell you that I loved you
My brother and my friend
I am not ready
To make you a memory
I don’t want your story to end

Your novel left undone
It seems your life just begun

I still can hear your laughter
I still can see your smile
I miss the way you used to love living
With certain character and crazy style

You hid your cross well
No body ever could tell

I’m in uncharted waters
Right now is how I feel
Now navigation no charts plotted
No one at control at the wheel

No port of call
No wind in my sails at all

What’s it like in Heaven
Is it true what they say
Did you get to see Grandma and Grandpa
I wish you all back here for a day

To touch my hand
To help me understand

They say your work was finished
Heaven needed you there
A temporary gift the angels sent us
Now all I have is an empty stare

I know time will soon heal
The bad cards life tends to deal

Please look down upon us
Keep the sun on our face
Hold us in the palm of your hand
Until we get to see your new place

Good-bye my friend
Until we met again!

Love the way you write - you might just want to change 'wondering' to 'wandering' - but a great poem

Your brother will be very proud of you. A very moving poem indeed
