A blood curdling scream
rang out in the thick crisp air
of a freshly moistened night.
the dull light of street lamps gave
little comfort. Nothing seems quite right.
the straight sheen of a raised dagger
caught the eye
of one elder passer-by.
who glanced a second time
and proceeded to put on her long distance glasses.
