Under The Stairs Poem by Phil Soar

Under The Stairs

I sat under the stairwell
Deep in the 'bogey hole'
That's what my parents called the place
That hid my very soul
The banished me to sit there
When I'd done something wrong
And now that I am Sixty Five
It's the place that I belong

I race there when I'm lonely
And sit for hours and hours
Shaking like a shitting dog
Beneath a tear of showers
My parents are no longer here
They're buried in the garden
They asked me for forgiveness
But I couldn't beg their pardon
