Underneath Poem by James Darwin Smith II

Underneath

Underneath, do you see me?
The inner woven dreams
That make me be
Escaping from judgement
Aiming to displease
With ease
Falling into
My own thoughts
Of a personal world's
Happily ever after

So much goes on within
The outside a mere
Game of trivial pursuit
Where the answers
Are always wrong
Singing out silence
In a mute sense
All on my own

The path I walked
Looked down upon
Extreme exterior
Is nothing to be counted on
If only everything was inside out
So I would not have to be
Trapped looking afar
Within something
Of a paradox
To what I consider sacred

What is beauty?
Something I live very much
Everything about it
As a spectator peeking views
So the source of it all
Sends chills running
Up and down my spine
Shivers, divine

Dancing images
Inside a third eyed
Electric indigo
Design of self searching
Seeing a Queen of dreams
Yet in a battlefield created
All on her own
My passion feels disowned
I dedicate this
To wishful thinking
Painting a prison
Of mirrors that remind
Why last is not even qualified
To pick me
But oh well
I can dream
Of all this wherewithal
Running from
Ice cycle stabbing words
Infecting hope
And the love
I wished to seize

Still, here I am
With faith's fading light
Cupid's black sheep
Looking in different ways
Loving the scars,marks
The flaws
Where true beauty resides
Taking myself off
Way up high
Into this fantasy's rejoice
Love's most earnest of rides
Breathing new air
Taking in a new perspective
Celebrating a brand new life

Underneath, can you reach me?
These dreams are as much as yours
As they are all mine

I love you
Love, judge me no longer

Your true form
Is what I take in
With the greatest of strides

Underneath, I dig
Myself a new path
Expressing every ounce
Of this heart of mine

Can you see me yet?

Underneath,
Is where everything matters the most

Interpret me
From the inside

I live underneath
Always willing
To fly you
Way up high
Even if it means
I have to descend
Way down the spiral of life
I am use to looking into love
From the outside

I am strong, alive
Fighting on
Being myself
And only myself
While dreaming
Dreams
Of traveling
An infinity of miles ahead
In the great divine

I am all soul
Flesh is overrated
Ready to fly beyond
The limit of the skies

All is good
I am alive

Underneath, awaiting my time

All is good
Living my flawed life

Dreaming of my rebirth
Flying higher than ever before

It is so good
To be alive

Underneath, My fate belongs to me
