Undiscovered Element Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Undiscovered Element

There is another element
Undiscovered
Not the one you readily will see
Deep
Hidden
Within
Inside of me
Of all the things you imagine I feel
Of all the assumptions you make
Its all there for you to take
but there's more
A part I hold away
It's not prone to persuasion
can't be bought or sold
It will live on beyond
Will never grow old
It's not a phyisical thing
But it's everything
I feel its the reason for all I've been through
and I can only give it to someone
and once they have it they will never be blue
It's an element undiscovered
But I've saved it somhow
For a moment in time that may never be
I cry when I think it will be wasted in me
But before I die which must happen in time
Though I myself may be past my prime
There is still something good in me
I wish you could see
The best of me
My hand is outstetched
But I'm held in place
Doesn't diminish
What's inside
An element undiscoved
That I've been forced to hide
I wish you were beautiful as I imagine you
Though of that I don't really care
I've sensed you strongly and felt you there
I can't help but stare
And think about the days we could share
Dark eyes and raven hair
Dagger cloak and chemical mind
I think something beautiful you might find
An element undiscovered
I've been forced to hide
Someday in you I'll confide
Perhaps you'll open and let me in your softer side
And that will be the changing of the tide
All the world will open wide
The day you let me inside
An element undiscovered
My lifetime gift to my true bride
