Unhappy Mother Poem by Phil McDonnell

Unhappy Mother

Mother,
I know in the past out relationship has been strained.
But this is obviously not my fault it’s my fathers.
Remember that time we went to the park and I fell off the swing?
I didn’t stitches from the fall I needed stitches because of dad.
“No son of mine will be that clumsy.”
And you think he’s afraid of flying?
He’s afraid of getting caught.
If I were selected for a random screening he’d be in prison.
Of course I said it wasn’t a big deal.
I’m usually against dealing with his drunken wrath,
And no I’m not angry, at least not yet.
You better get custody more than just the summer.
I can’t deal with that man anymore.
