I look thru my window pane,
I wait-
I know you will come.
The sparrows have taken my message,
I wait, I know you will come.
The sun has set, the dust has settled-
I wait, I know you will come
The sparrows must have been late,
The stars in the sky twinkle and say-
Wait, he will come
The night has lived and welcomed the pink dawn,
The sparrows have long returned
I wait-
I wonder what is taking you so long
Will you come?
I know-
You have found a new hearth,
New company, new adulations,
Fresh conversation, new reasons to smile
I know your need for me is dormant now –
Something tells me the wait shall be long
I know you will come
Again when the world has left you, you will remember me
To my home, to hold my hands you will return
My strength you will seek to lean on
Again I will bask in the glory
I will dance in the showers of your love
Again I will believe that you will not leave,
In that moment I will live
I wait-
I know you will come
