What does it feel like
When your Mother hugs you?
When you have friends to turn to -
When you feel sad and blue?
I wish I knew.

Will someone please tell me
What these things feel like,
And how happy they make you.
They must be good -
I just wish I knew.

What does it feel like
To have someone to run to
When things get tough?
Does it make you feel better?
I just wish I knew.

Will someone please tell me
What real happiness is -
I did see it once,
But I think I've forgot -
It was so long ago.

I know what it feels like
To have a broken heart -
That aches for a wonderful woman I lost -
A woman I never will know again.
