Unrequited Love Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Unrequited Love

Romeo tells of the love
in his heart for a lady fair.

Every moment of every day
I longed to see her come my way
To watch the breeze caress her hair
And see the colour she might wear.

Her beauty and her special grace,
The way she moved - her lovely face
Were forever on my mind,
'Obsession' of the rarest kind.

On waking and at eventide
My feelings could not be denied.
Her snow-white skin and gentle style
Did my foolish heart beguile.

I loved her madly, passionately;
But fear her love was not for me.
So the secret in my soul I keep
Love so strong...love so deep.

For how long will this feeling last?
I must go, and leave the past.
Or love will bring me to my knees
Always tearful and ill at ease.

I hope, with time, I may forget
And even wish we'd never met.
A new dawn waits, a new day breaks.
'The end of love and sad heartaches'.
