Until That Day Poem by Carrie Everett

Until That Day

Rating: 5.0

 I saw a man that wasn’t there
 He wasn’t there, I swear
 But then there he was, as soon as I turned to stare
 Sitting upon the topmost stair
 Looking, longing, obviously unable to bear
 With his fortune, with has days
 Then I looked closer and realized I could not see his face!
 I stared long and hard, not caring for rudeness
 When I realized, that it was my true love, equally full of sadness
 Staring me in the face, unseeing, but staring just the same
 Oh how I longed to see, to touch, to talk with the man that I knew would one day father my bunch
 Then, I felt a presence
 I knew I couldn’t stay
 For we were not supposed to meet,
 Not for many days
 Oh, how sad I became
 How I longed to stay
 I just wanted to stay with him
 Until the last of my days
 I knew we would meet again
 I knew the day would come
 When we would share our vows
 And even share a home
 Until that day
 I shall think of what to say
 Until that day
 I will wish I could’ve stayed
