'V' Is For... Poem by Bill Grace

'V' Is For...

The letter on ancient television,
before color came to culture's seduction,
black and gray
enhancing a scene of sultry wave
introducing the great war drama
of 'Victory at Sea.'
Winston Churchill
converting fingers to instant semifores
of 'V' for victory
at the Great War's end
cherubic smile
on his fat face.
Your telling
no one had
ever called you 'V'
and this meaning so much to me.
