Vacant House Poem by Dorsey Baker

Vacant House

Rating: 5.0

As I walked past that vacant house
I thought I saw
The face of a beautiful woman
In its window
I thought I heard a scream
That sounded like a woman
In some kind of distress
And I thought
I smelled the sweet scent of perfume
Floating in the breeze
But it was a vacant house
That had been empty
For a very long time
And I just must have been mistaken
Of what I saw
Of what I heard
And no smell of sweet perfume
Because it was a vacant house
No human being could be living there
Just another empty
Vacant house
