Vacation Gone Wrong Poem by Anna Hardin

Vacation Gone Wrong

My best vacation in 2012,
would have to be when,
my family and I went to Helen, Georgia.
Just my mother, father, and I.

It started off boring, so I took a chance.
During river rafting, I unhooked from my mother and decided, with the river I would dance.
Things were funner and faster from them.
Jamison cam looking for me alone.

Really he was going to race with me.
Down the river you see.
I wouldn't let him win.
I ran down the bank and pushed off.

Leaving him far behind to break his toe.
I did win, but he caught me at the end of the river though.
He grabbed my arm and I hit him on the head with a stick.
He squealed and I hit him again.

He let me go and I ran up the bank.
Of my decision, I did not have to think.
He made fun of me earlier and I'd been meaning to hit him.
I smirk as he runs after me.

We run into my mad mother.
Oh brother!
Why didn't I think?
She's steaming mad at us both.

She looked like an under water Medusa with brown, rattle-snakes for hair.
She was to angry for me to bare.
Both, me and my father, were thinking of our death wish.
We'll never hear the end of it.

'I went looking for her.' my father did say.
On the ground, my jaw had laid.
'No you didn't! You raced me! ' I cry.
'Stop lying! ' he pleads.

On the way back to the hotel, a truck flew by.
I instantly let out a sigh.
My father is so stupid.
An imbecile, you see.

My mother was soaked and she had just dried.
The rain had just went away and now my father was going to die.
He laughs and she pushes him in the road.
My mother's temper does not go far.

Jamison should have known better.
A broke toe and now a possible death letter.
He ends up unharmed.
He curses and carries on.

'Just shut up while you can.' I whisper to him.
'She tried to kill me! ' he flings his limbs.
He should have stayed at the hotel.
He was very funny though.

My mother and father did not like the vacation one bit.
Their fire, it lit.
It was the best vacation,
for me anyway.

He cried when we got home.
Yet, while crying, he was alone.
All about his toe.
My mother and I laugh like crazy.
