The grave-site has all its winding rows
That frown and scowl and grin,
And rueful are they who once lived and loved-
(Oh well. At least no longer can they sin) .
Their eyes all bright once with sight
But no longer can they see
No wake-up calls, no reservations made-
No more need of an RSVP.
She sees the raised stone of her once beloved one
Who sleeps-but no longer breathes,
'I'll carry you in my heart, ' she says
'So your always near to me.
'You can't awake, so I will dream for you
'As far as eye can see,
'So scoop thee up. Now go to sleep-
'For a tomorrow there will be.'
