Venture Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Venture

You have gathered gold and silver into your treasures,
And your heart is lifted up because of your riches!
But, in the depths of the waters will you be drawn;
Because, you've failed to help the poor.

Venture,
Joint venture!
With your muse,
With your mind,
In business;
But, you've failed to the help the poor around you.

With your mouth you have boasted against them!
But, the prime of life is among them;
As we all came from one source.

The muse of love,
The muse of peace,
Like the water of purification sprinkled unto us!
Of a new heart and a new spirit;
Scattered among the heathen! !
But, you've failed to help the poor.

Venture,
With the pride of mankind on this earth;
And, with the muse of your ways according to your works,
But, you've failed to help the poor around you.
