Verdigris Poem by Dylan B

Verdigris

Sea breezes
Verdigris
To varying degrees,
I picture you
In mixing colors,
See you among the far-flung wonders
In my wakeful dreaminess,
or while I slumber

I struggle to find the relevance
Resisting the trail of the complacent
Á la Joan Didion's wit,
Can't quite place it,
Struck by the same note-taking quandary she bewails...
Babe, I've taken some notes,
So close to ones I've heard in your sing-song voice before I penned them

My notes entail:
Two faces of my lover
Neither frail
One strong in the sun
One other contends,
'Watch! Keenly now.
There's still an abundance
I've not yet done,
Fights I've not yet won.
And I will win
Here's the blissful work of
Joan Didion.
Read it freely, Dylan"

Sea breezes
Verdigris
You bequeath,
Enduring Love,
Ballast
A safe space to be freely me

How did you muscle in?
With tones of cinnabar and varied harlequin
Making me laugh,
Making me cry,
Making me think
And question
Disarming my self-deception

Sea breezes
The Blue City where we waltzed and sauntered and sang by the trees on the trail
Intoxicated by your repartee
Such a sensation
Verdigris
