Verses On A Dew Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Verses On A Dew

Verses on a dew
Fresh-fallen from the night heights
An hour has not passed
And
The nightingale has sung nine times
More or less thus sung
Each of the nightingales in Hastings Gardens
A snail silver shines up its hill
The tree trunk of a sold fir.
Higher still
The adjacent tree houses six owls
All garrulous
All wisdom begetting but
Not each other interrupting
Never.
And in kits humid silence
Hastings Gardens be in Silver Age.
