Very Different Poem by Francis Duggan

Very Different

It is not what i think of others or it is not what they think of me
For we are after all individuals and on all things we cannot agree
I will not try for to change your opinions though your opinions are different to mine
And you surely own your own feelings and that's okay that suits me fine.

On life, politics and the World we live in you have a conservative view
But with frankness you express your opinions and that is to give you your due
The people that we gravitate towards do have little in common to share
We see very different Worlds when we talk of the big World out there.

I'll never be invited to your house parties I'm happy you see it that way
I would feel out of place at such a gathering and I'd feel stuck for something to say
Since all of your mates they think like you and to those like us we do gravitate
You and i we seem very different and i never could be your mate.

You and i we seem very different but no two think exactly the same
Your views to me seem quite conservative that is for want of a better name
You are not my friend or my enemy we see things quite different that's all
Though you and i shared one thing in common before we did walk we did crawl.
