Very Wise Self-Advice Poem by Mailrangam Visvanathan Venkataraman

Very Wise Self-Advice

Rating: 5.0

It is never at all too late
The time available is adequate
If all bad companies I liquidate
All my problems will quickly abate

In my diary under today's date
I have given to myself a stern mandate
That all my qualities I must up to date
And good and bad I must segregate

I have decided to designate
My mind as my subordinate
Hereafter terms only I will dictate
And all bad qualities I will eradicate

Success can never intoxicate
A person who is calmly sedate
Even if failures severely inundate
He will make them fail to intimidate

Why should I seriously excavate
The dead past to properly locate
All my limitations and investigate
The methods to make them vacate

Now comes an interesting debate
Must others judge to authenticate
My goodness through a certificate
Written in words on a golden plate?

No, others will coolly confiscate
The plate if circumstances necessitate
Despite my being uniquely meticulate
Others are not moderate or considerate

For my own good I must ruminate
And take firm steps to eliminate
Bad qualities from the aggregate
So that situation will not aggravate

Day by day I must castigate
My own self if I wrongly deviate
Ultimately I will vindicate
That my mind I can subjugate

The beauties of victory finely stimulate
My nerves and creatively motivate
My mind to practically demonstrate
My win over ordeals which fate may stipulate

beautiful write Venkat...you have a rich vocab, no doubt...but to create a poem without loosing sense using a series of like-words is really admirable...good rhyming through out...the expression- i have decided to designate my mind as my subordinate- reads very nice...intelligent work...10
