Vicious - Cycle Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

Vicious - Cycle

We have to recognize
the futility of human
attempts to ground
our contentment
and peace in the
illusory things
of this world.

Trying to obtain true
and lasting peace
from transitory things
is a vicious cycle.

There is no rest
in such things
because the soul
is yearning for
something
qualitatively different.

Some have
likened these
efforts to a river:

„All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.

To the place the
streams come from,
there they return again".

(Ecclesiastes 1: 7
of The Holy Bible) .
