Vigilance And Alertness

When Christ tells us that the
fundamental obligation
of every human being
is vigilance and alertness,
He is saying, in other words,
that we must keep our liberty
awake, ready at any moment
to transcend the stultifying
artificiality of common existence
with decisions that affirm
our inner, spiritual identity
as sons and daughters of God.
