Victims And Villains Poem by Dieter Ian Maree

Victims And Villains

I dressed you in bright, mysterious colours
You robed me in an enigmatic textile...
That`s how and why we fell in love
When life and love eventually expose
That`s how victims and villains arose...

Our evasive vulnerability inevitably emerged
Destined for darker waters and intriguing shores...
As infinite and complex needs were unearthed
That`s when victims and villains were birthed.

Mindless infatuation precedes manic obsession
How are we supposed to know that innocence would
ultimately be our most valued possession?
As we feverishly drift into the abysmal unknown
I beg you, my love...do not abandon your sense
of moderation...

When all is said and done
Victims and villains do not offer any salvation...
