Vigil Poem by nicola burkett

Vigil

He saved me from dying on that frightful day
By giving me courage in his arms where i lay
He held me tight and said 'don't close your eyes'
'Keep looking at me' he wispered as he started to cry
As i lay helpless upon the ghostly white sheets
He remains by my side, in the vigil he keeps
He holds my hand and weeps at the sight
At the woman he loves loosing the fight
My heart beats aloud for all to hear
The silence of life is what he must fear
While the machines all around keep my heart alive
The strength that he gives is whats making me thrive
I owe my life to him, my hero my love
An angel in disguise, sent from above
