Vision Poem by Honey Joy Casanos

Vision

Rating: 3.5

Tourists come and visit.
Be welcomed by the most
Hospitable people, the Filipinos.
A unique culture and traditions.
Rich in natural resources
And comprised of more than 7000 islands.
It's like the whole world's attraction
Compiled into one.

But for its beauty the hidden surprise,
The truth lies behind.

The beginning of all we'll know
As for us Filipinos.

We have already reached our freedom.

But, still yearning for justice and equality.

Where power is for the people
Who are on top.

Blinded and suffering
Like slaves in their hands.

Corruption is like a dark shadow
Blocking our bright future.

Crocodiles around us,
Wearing masks for their own profit
And ignoring those who are in need.

Starting today,
We are still on the process of change.

Changing our lives

Changing our community

For a better future
To surprise.

Through this poem that
I wrote hope you can open
Your eyes to the real world
And find the justice behind
The long black curtains,
Blocking your mind.

I have seen many poems with this same title, and all about the Philippines. Obviously some English teacher has made an assignment! Nevertheless, this poem is quite well done. Welcome to Poem Hunter!
