Visitation Poem by Alesia Leach

Visitation

She rest in sweet repose,
everyone passes,
some she does not know.
Her casket is a deep dark green,
the lining a softer shade,
with a silken sheen,
a perfect countenance
to her brown tresses.

Pale hands rest against her breasts,
highlighting the green of her dress.
She would be truly upset,
to see you beholding her dead.
As it was clear what she said,
if you could not visit her,
when she was alive,
she did not want to see you,
now that she has died.

if you could not visit her, when she was alive, she did not want to see you, now that she has died. It is in life that we need company! After death, even if people shed crocodile tears and pay glowing encomiums, they are of no use! She lying in coffin, bland and pale in death is poignantly pictured!

So poignant but so truthful she was.... if you could not visit her, when she was alive, she did not want to see you, .... absolutely a right gesture.
