From cockcrow to cockroost
I sit on the cold veranda
pining away in subtle melancholy
like a deciduous plant in cold winter
silently waiting
for you to come home
I keep running to the door, every night
wanting to save you from slipping into the dark
but it's just same old nightmare
The one that jerks my night awake
somedays I have had to climb unto the roof
while the sky winced and cried it heart out
every single stroke hit me hard in the face
I was so worried, scared
should you catch a cold
I know longer know the taste of food in the mouth
Even the best of drinks now taste like bile
I have lost the appetite for life
I have become like a linen spread in the sun
It doesn't matter though
I'll wait in this icy cold
I have gathered a pile of wood
Over there, also I have dumped the hay
Tarry no more
I'm dying to start a fire
whose kisses shall send away the cold.
